Black Lives Matter: Moving from Ally to Accomplice

For the past 10 years, Heart & Hand has worked alongside communities of color, nurturing the growth of children and accompanying families. At this critical moment in our country’s evolution, we must move from ally to accomplice to support and empower our students and their families on the path toward racial justice. We know that our conversations and learning must continue, and that our actions will be louder than anything we have to say.

We have outlined our next steps, making commitments in the following areas:

• Continuing to increase the diversity of our Board of Directors and Community Professionals Board in alignment with our strategic plan goals
• Designing new programming for young people and families to address the trauma our community is currently experiencing
• Codifying more intentional practices to elevate the voices of our young people and families
• Forming a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and an Advocacy and Action Committee to ensure that our momentum in this area continues.
  

Heart & Hand is actively engaged in our community. Our team members contribute to neighborhood boards and dialogues such as the Park Hill Strong emerging adults action committee and the City of Denver’s Reimagining Public Safety Task Force.
