Heart & Hand Programs

Empowering youth from 2nd grade through two years post-secondary through responsive programming.

Afterschool Programming

Heart & Hand creates a nurturing afterschool environment where everyone gets a hot meal, help with homework, exposure to new passions, and a healthy dose of love.

Each day, Heart & Hand provides three hours of daily afterschool programming for youth 2nd-8th grade across three sites: Columbine Elementary, Smith Elementary and Bruce Randolph Middle School.

Summer Programming

Research suggests that young people from low-income households are more likely than their more affluent peers to fall behind in reading and math during the summer months.

Heart & Hand works to provide our youth with an enriching summer camp experience inclusive of academic support, field trips across the Denver metro area, and workshops that enable students to try new things like archaeology and tennis.

Career and College Readiness

Beginning in 9th grade, emerging leaders receive one- on-one support and monthly workshops on topics like career success and college access. The Career & College Readiness program is designed to meet the individual academic, social-emotional, and future-planning needs of participants, empowering them to achieve post-secondary success and beyond. Program components include:

  • One-on-one meetings, goal setting, and action planning focused on high school completion and post-secondary plans.
  • Workshops on college and career readiness and social-emotional topics.
  • Visits to workplaces and colleges.

Family Development

Our newest program is designed to provide wrap-around supports to the entire family including resource navigation, support services, and advocacy. Using the Strengthening Families framework, Heart & Hand aims to encourage and empower families throughout their children’s development.
